Role: Art Direction & 3D
Project: Submission for the Lumen Digital Art Prize 2018
Description: The artwork represents the theory that in a universe of ever increasing entropy, life forms a temporary low entropy state. Like an eddy or whirlpool in a raging river.
The 3D terrain is generated from a series of 2D flow maps. Each map is the result of a dynamic simulation of water, erosion and debris that changes the physical contours of the landscape. Placed based on a height field there are over 5 Million trees placed across the 10 Km square area. The scene also includes realistic simulations of atmospheric particles and low lying fog and cloud.
